Chemical Feature

COLATAN PFA is a natural penatration agent, a chemically modified tannin of polyphenol chemical structure( flavonoid) obtained from extracted substances of the Colorado Quebracho(Schinopsis Lorenzii) arboreal species that grows in the Northeast of Argentina to be applied in the cardboard manufacturing industry. It is a natural starch additive with unique penatration capability.It has been widely used in the cardboard manufacturing industry of high quality and high grammage paper,i.e.has big fiber density and high superficial tension in the paper thus leading to the cardboard delamination. COLATAN PFA, due to its high pernatration , has proven to be effective in solving the delamination problem in the cardboard. Besides, it is a product cetified by SGS Authority as the environmentally-friendly product. It is presence in Chinese market has filled the vacany of the natural additive in China.

How COLATAN PFA works

PFAis a tannin based product which works as a tensoative product,this kind of product change the superficial tension of the papers. One of the high quality and high grammage papers problems is that there are a big density of fiber and a few air into the paper, so the papers have a big superficial tension problem and using a tensoactive product and changing the superficial tension on the papers helps the adhesive to penetrate faster and to ensure a perfect bonding of the paper.

The delamination problems in this kind of papers is because two main reasons:

1-because the superficial tension

2-becouse it has a low air content and a high fiber content and so, the heat transfer from the preheaters is to fast and by this reason this papers needs a lower wrap on the preheaters to avoid the over cook

The point 1) can be solved using PFA, and the point 2) can be solved just by adjusting the preheaters

We suggest PFA to use together with CF2 to achieve not only the good bonding strength, flexibility ,ECT , water resistance of the cardboard, but also to increase the machine speed by 15-20%, to reduce the application 30-50% and paper scrap, hence considerably reduce the cost per square meter cardboard and improve the production efficiency as a whole.

Standard formula for reference

Parameters of the glue with CF2:

1.Gel point:60-63℃

2.Viscosity: S/F 15-20S, D/B 20-25S ( measure by LOVE CUP), normally, we prefer to adopt the present viscosity of your own glue.

3.Solid contend: around 20%

4.Formula: just replace our additive with which you are using now.

Important points:

1.To produce high waterproof cardboard, we recommended dosage of formaldehyde to be 10% of the weight of CF2( but if CF2 is lower than 10 kg, the formaldehyde shall always be 1 kg), then stir 5 minutes.

2.Colatan PFA is compatible with any of the adhesive, no specail facilities or treatment is required and can be used the same as other additives.

3.due to PFA can fasten the drying of the adhesive, therefore, it is important to increase the machine speed to avoid the glue from being over cooked or a fragile cardboard.

4.cardboard store after24 hrs can get the best physical performance like edge/flat crush tests, etc.
